The Royal City Ambassadors wish to thank you, our patrons for attending our recent annual show.  Just wait 'til you see what we have planned for next year!  Be prepared for non-stop music!  Keep your calendars open for March 25th and 26th, 2011.

We are very proud to have placed second amongst the ten Ontario choruses who competed in our spring contest in Collingwood.  This is a wonderful accomplishment.  We can hardly wait until next year!  On the quartet side, Michael, one of our newest and youngest members, brought home the Novice Quartet trophy.  We are also very proud of the seniors quartet, For Paul's Sake, comprised of present and former members, including our director, Ken.  They entered the contest for fun and remembrance and came in first.  See all the results here.

The Royal City Ambassadors chorus is proud to bring barbershop harmony to Guelph and surrounding area.  We believe that barbershop singers can reach out and touch the lives of everyone in our community.

We commit ourselves to the promotion and growth of an art form that is truly unique.  Our music is heard in schools, churches and public places by those young and old and funds we raise support
Harmonize For Speech.  Our love of this music and our joy of singing brings us closer together in fellowship and as lifelong friends.

Who Are We?

We’re men of all ages, from all walks of life who love to sing… Fans and friends who thrill to the sound of harmony...

What is Barbershop Harmony?

It’s four-part, unaccompanied, close-harmony singing, with melody in the second voice, or Lead.  The Tenor harmonizes above the lead singer.  The Bass sings the lowest harmonizing notes.  The Baritone provides in-between notes.   All combine to form consonant, pleasing chords.

Music is in the style of "the old songs" from the heyday of Tin Pan Alley, circa 1890-1920 but has focus on songs from the 50’s, 60’s or present day.

Melodies are in the vocal and skill range of the average singer, with lyrical emphasis on simple, heartfelt emotions: love, friendship, mother, moon & June & the girl next door.
